High Adventure Hike from Ghost Falls Trailhead up Jacob's Ladder to Lone Peak Basin
We recommend Advanced Hikers or participants be in healthy condition.!!
Start Time: 07:00 AM - Ghost Falls Trailhead - June 7th!
Because of the length and degree of difficulty in making the day long hike to Lone Peak Basin,
our Draper Trail Days Committee has chosen a smaller route which will begin and end at the
Ghost Falls Trailhead. Parking is available at the Ghost Falls Trailhead. All participants who sign up
and make this hike will receive a Draper Trails Day 'T' Shirt.
Start: from the Ghost Falls Trailhead 1/2 mile from Orson Smith Trailhead
on the Upper Corner Canyon Road.
Travel Northeasterly: past Movie Rock Road, on the Jacob's Ladder Ridge Trail to Jacobs Ladder Overlook.
Travel North: from Jacobs Ladder Overlook for 100 yards to South Mountain Trail (also called the Hamongog Trail).
Travel Northeastly: along the South Mountain Trail (the Hamongog Trail) to Lone Rock (not the "Lone Rock" on some maps).
Travel North: climbing from the Southwest corner of Lone Rock up the Eastern side of Big Horn Basin, past Willow Grouse Spring, to the "Bally Basin, the old "Sheep Coral" area in the Spruce and Fir flat.
Travel Northeastly: follow the trail from "the pines," and, eventually, over the ridge into the Lonepeak Basin.
*** If there is much snow left, be very careful climbing the peak--use the Northwest ridge approach.
